From the time I was 5 years old, I knew I wanted to be a doctor. For the next 18 years, I pursued that dream with everything in me. I studied hard in school to get good grades, volunteered in hospitals on weekends, shadowed various specialties, and even double majored in Communications and Biology to stand out for medical school interviews. I gave my all and left nothing on the table. I was determined to become a doctor.
All the while, a voice in the back of my mind kept asking, Is this all there is? Is this right for you?
As I forced myself to study harder, I realized anything related to communications came easier to me. While I struggled through science classes, I thrived in creating my first online store, doing speaking engagements as young as 16, and writing. However, I ignored what I was naturally good at in hopes of measuring up to the “smart kids” in class. I wanted to live up to the expectations of my community—and mainly, the expectations I had placed on myself.
I wanted to belong. I wanted to know I was smart too. I used a dream that was never really mine to justify my abilities and hide the fact that I constantly felt inadequate.
It wasn’t until I failed the MCAT, faced rejection from medical schools, and heard a friend—who finished the entire medical process in six years instead of eight—say she didn’t even want to practice medicine, that I stopped to ask myself, What am I doing this all for?
The thoughts that had lingered in the back of my mind for all those years finally had their chance to be heard. I made the hard decision to let go of a dream I once thought would give me all the purpose and meaning I needed. The dream that I thought would finally prove to myself and others that I belonged.
My linear path to success and fulfillment was over.
The greatest offense wasn’t walking down a path that made me doubt my abilities. It was that I had trained myself to constantly ignore who I really was. What came naturally to me, what excited me, and the real vision I had for my life were pushed aside for a dream that wasn’t truly mine. I wasn’t living authentically.
I often tell people that your life will always tell you who you really are. Your true desires, your talents—they will always show, no matter how hard you try to stifle them.
You can’t run from you.
After much reflection, I realized my essence had been showing all along. The joy I felt after finishing a speaking event. The creative rush I experienced after recording a podcast. The satisfaction I got from planning workshops and writing. I could no longer keep myself a secret. I had to let HER shine.
So, I took a bet on myself.
I decided to pursue my passions and talents to the best of my ability. As others continued down the path I once dreamed of, I chose to bet on myself in more ways than one. There have been many twists and turns along the way—constant pivots, trying, failing, and trying again. But one thing I can say with confidence is that the life I’ve been building is grounded in identity, intentionality, and the empowerment to make choices that fit the true essence of who I am.
When we think of luxury, we often associate it with comfort, designer bags, and wealth. Many people live lavish lives and possess everything the world has to offer, yet their overall quality of life is lacking.
Luxury living is not just about beautiful things (which I love). It’s also about knowing who you are and making decisions that align with your true identity.
It’s about being self-assured and making decisions based on personal values rather than the fear of disappointing others. It’s about letting your “yes” be “yes” and your “no” be “no” with confidence. It’s about courageously redirecting and changing course at any time to pursue what truly matters to you.
My goal is to awaken everyone I come in contact with to who they truly are. No longer living a life suggested by others, culture, or limiting mindsets, but living in a way that feels like home—or better yet, tailor-made.
I believe we aren’t put on this earth just to survive, but to live with purpose and authenticity. When we shine in our own right, it encourages others to do the same. And the cycle continues, as one person serves another.
I’m here to empower you to bet on yourself. The luxury journey is meant for everyone, and if you’re willing, we can walk this journey to living your version of a meaningful life… together.
